It does have some politics but don't really go in deep in the palace intrigues other than to set-up the premise of the show. It is hard to know if you would enjoy it without knowing what kind of things you do like in dramas.

Other than that, the plot (a young girl crossdressing & posing as the king, but falling in love with one of her guards) is pretty good. I feel like it could have been much better than it is.
