WebMay 15, 2024 · Electrocaloric effect is a physical phenomenon firstly discovered in Rochelle salt by Kobeko and Kurtschatov in 1930.12 Due to the low temperature change (ΔT < 1 K), the early studies of ECE were regarded not viable for refrigeration until the discovery of the giant ECE. WebElectrocaloric Effect. When an electric field is applied to a dielectric material, it will induce a change in the polarization and, consequently, a change in the entropy and temperature in the material. Such an electric …
WebPoly (vinylidene fluoride-trifluoroethylene-chlorofluoroethylene) P(VDF-TrFE-CFE) is a relaxor ferroelectric polymer, which exhibits a temperature-independent electrocaloric effect at room temperature. In this work, the electrocaloric effect in P(VDF-TrFE-CFE) film was directly analysed using infrared imaging. WebA similarly large ECE was detected in the ferroelectric P(VDF–TrFE) copolymer around 70 °C and in the relaxor ferroelectric P(VDF–TrFE–CFE) terpolymer near the room temperature . These observations were based on so-called indirect electrocaloric measurements and were not measured directly.

WebOct 17, 2011 · The first observations of the giant ECE were made by indirect measurements of the electric polarization. In our case we investigated the electrocaloric effect by direct measurements.
