All 4x4 functions are routed through the GEM module mounted on the back of the central junction box by the driver's left knee. The GEM modules in the 4x2 trucks DO NOT have the software/hardware in their GEM modules to control 4x4.

You'll need to convert your tranny to 4x4 or get a 4x4 tranny. I persnally have always wanted to use the Dana 44 swap. Use the front differentials & TTb arms from a 1/2 ton truck. And like stated above swap the hubs for 8 bolt units and you basically have a lite duty 4x4.
