Malus sieversii f. niedzwetzkyana is a red-fleshed variant of M. sieversii. Its branches, leaves, flowers, fruit skin, and pulp are all red, with extremely high anthocyanin concentrations and considerable health benefits (Wang et al. 2010). Anthocyanins are found in the cell vacuole, mostly in flowers and fruits, but also in leaves, stems, and roots.
